ACT FOR KIDS APPEALS TO ALL AUSTRALIANS TO GIVE ONE LESS PRESENT THIS CHRISTMAS

The best gift to give is the one you give up this Christmas.

Christmas consumerism continues to rise and many Aussies feel uncomfortable about the through of spending money on unwanted gifts.

Australians spend over $11billion on Christmas presents with 70% regretting some of their impulse purchases. On average Aussies spend $593 on Christmas presents.*

So Publicis Worldwide has created for ACT for Kids a campaign asking Australians to give ‘One Less Present’ this Christmas. It asks people to give up a present and donate the money they would have spent to help give the therapy needed to abused and neglected children.

This latest campaign follows in the success of Monster Crayons in 2016, a new product now sold in retail stores around Australia.

Publicis Worldwide Executive Creative Director Ryan Petie says, ‘As a father of two kids, I know how much money we spend on unnecessary gifts at Christmas, which could be much better spent giving a little hope to kids in need.

“We’ve supported Act for Kids for over 15 years, and we hope this project lives up to the effectiveness of our past campaigns – I urge all mums and dads, grandpas and nanas to give one less present this Christmas.”

The film tells the heart-warming experiment where kids say what they want to get for Christmas. But then when they get asked if they would give those presents up, their answers capture the spirit of giving – or in this case, giving up.

Says Penny Parsons, Marketing Manager, Act for Kids, “The One Less Present campaign Publicis Worldwide have developed is an authentic and moving campaign, focused on children giving to others, instead of focusing on getting.”
